Potty training

Here are some tips on crate training:

Crate them whenever you cant be right with them- even if you are going to switch the laundry, bathroom etc.. they tend to go as soon as we turn our back.

Crate them while you are away and can not supervise her, this is very important for their safety. As soon as you get home from work let them out but pick them up and carry them out. The key is their feet do not hit the floor until they go outside and potty. If they don't go outside and go then straight back into the crate. Take them back out again in 10 or 15 minutes.
Take them out into the same  designated area each time they needs to go so that they can get used to that routine. When you  want to take them out to play go to a different area so that they knows the difference between a potty break and play time.

Make them sleep in their crate unless they sleep in bed with you, ( which I advise against in the beginning because they are small and not potty trained.) Again Let them have no un monitored time outside of the crate with out you. I would take them out 1 time an hour at first and then little by little extend the time.
The crate needs to be a training tool at this time.
They need to see that they will not be able to be out with you unless they goes outside to potty. That is their ultimate goal to be out with you.
You need to stay very persistent with this so that they get the hang of it fast.
Tip - Especially if you do not have a fenced in yard!!!
Do you have an x pen? You could put them in the x pen inside your yard.. I can send you a link to one. X pens are great for training so that you can place them in the x pen and they have that designated area to go potty and they can use the rest of the yard for play. consistence with the area they are going potty will help them rememeber also and they wont be distracted and they will concentrate on going potty.

If they go potty in the house I would discipline them and if they poop take them and the poop straight outside to the area you want them to go potty and show it to them.. tell them they are a Good boy/Girl and leave it there for them to see next time.
If he/she doesn't go potty outside then take them straight inside to the crate.
You can also only treat them when they have gone potty after they have that down you can give treats for other things too. I am going to put  a link on the page for training bells and the x pen.

The bells hang on the door that you will be taking the puppy out. In the beginning you take their nose or paw and tap the bells before you go out to potty. They catch onto this very fast and they will eventually tap the bells to let you know that theyhaveto go potty.

Tips for Pad training:

I advise to pick one or the other and not combine these training methods because it can confuse  them if your end goal is to only crate train.
The biggest tip for training is to give them something to step  into to use the pad. It can be a litter tray, cookie sheet, boot tray or they do make pad trays which I will put a link to on this page also.  Giving them something to step into lets them know that it is different otherwise they will mistake your throw rugs for their pee pads too.
Make a designated potty area, giving them to many areas gives them the impression that they can go anywhere. Take them to that area to potty 1 x an hour when you get your puppy home, their bladders are small so they will go often. Especially after eating, sleeping or playing.

If they pee on the floor quickly tell them that it is bad, soak it up with the pee pad and show them that is where they are supposed to go.
If they poop on the floor tell them bad, then pick it up with the pad or napkin and set it on the pad and show them that is where they are supposed to go. After you show them you can throw it away.
Consistency is key.
